Winter break is almost here and I will have free time. So, any ideas of a baseball book to read? I like ones with history, no fiction books please. Thanks! have a great nite everyone!

The Last Best League was a fantastic book!
Baseball books are the best, I’m a huge baseball book nerd.
A couple of my personal favorites are:
-Now I Can Die In Peace by Bill Simmons (probably more for Red Sox fans. lol)
-You Can Observe A Lot By Watching by Yogi Berra.
-Summer of ’49 by David Halberstam
-Play It Again by Jim Bresnahan
-100 Years of World Series
-Crazy ’08 by Cait Murphy
-Wrigleyville by Peter Golenbock
I could name tons more, but I’ll stop there!
The Last Hero about Mickey Mantle and Great Time Coming about Jackie Robinson – both by David Faulkner. Best baseball books ever.
i like some of the one named above and this one
Perfect I’m Not: Boomer on Beer, Brawls, Backaches, and Baseball by david wells…
The Soul Of Baseball, by Joe Posnanski. Chronicles the author’s travels alongside Buck O’Neil for about two years. O’Neil was one of the most human souls ever to grace the great game.
Only $5.99 at Amazon. Buy extras, give ‘em to friends. Give extra extra copies to enemies and make friends of them, too.
The bad guys won. – jeff pearlman – story of the 1986 new york mets
Thats hard
Either
Summer of ’49 by David Halberstam
or
Is this a Great Game Or What? By Tim Kurkgian
Im already on winter break ; )
I’ve really only read one baseball book and that was “Ya Gotta Believe!” it’s an autobiography by Tug McGraw and it talks about his career and his relationship with his son, Tim McGraw.
It’s really, really interesting.
The Home Run Heard ‘Round the World by Ray Robinson and
The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn with articles from the early 1970s
Between the Numbers. While you may not agree with some of their final conclusions, you’ll learn more about baseball than you ever thought possible.
I really liked The Keystone Kids and Rookie of the Year, both by John Tunis.
They’re both kind of kid-friendly, and way below my reading level, but fun all the same.
I haven’t read the other two books, but this is the order:
The Kid From Thompsonville
World Series
Keystone Kids
ROY
I think.
believe it or not, juiced, by canseco
i just found it really interesting, and couldnt stop reading, not sayin i believed everything, but it was interesting reading what he had to say
The Life You Imagine: Life Lessons for Achieving Your Dreams by Derek Jeter, Jack Curry in Books
The Code: Baseball’s Unwritten Rules and its Ignore-at-Your-Own-Risk Code of Conduct by Ross Bernstein.
It discusses the “code” of baseball going over bean balls, charging the mound, breaking double plays, the rules on bunting…etc. Its very interesting and lets the avid baseball fan in on baseball the way players see it.
Also Rob Neyer’s Big Book of Baseball Blunders: A Complete Guide to the Worst Decisions and Stupidest Moments in Baseball History. I’m pretty sure the title says it all!
i am in love with moneyball by michael lewis. It follows the Oakland A’s in I believe 2003, and how they were able to concoct a winning strategy with a very low payroll. It completely changed the way I looked at the game of baseball and made me vaule a base on balls more than ever before.
If you consider yourself a die hard baseball fan you are going to want to read this.
I’m with Chip on this one Snakebite ^^
Buck O Neil is my fav N egro league player man he had a lot of heart
anyways another book well its a collection of pictures but its still worth looking at
Ballet In The Dirt: The Golden Age Of Baseball by Neil Leifer
