if your going to play baseball you need to go outside. There are so many skills in the game and to be successfull you have to be at least decent at all of them. One of the most imporntant foundations a young player must have is speed. if you have speed then you can get away with being a sub par hitter which i assume you are it being your first year and all. so do plenty of windsprints. i know its winter but your going to need to suck it up and get outside and throw with either a friend or your dad. if you never played before and you cant throw then your tryout is going to be an embarrasment. last but not least hitting. this is one of those things you need to do a little bit each day to get confortable with your swing you dont need to be outside to swing the bat just find some space in your house and take 20 or 30 dry cuts each day. good luck

lay down on your bed and grip the ball like a 4-seam fastball and throw it straight up in the air. when you throw extend your elbow and flick your wrist and try to get a perfect back spin that when you catch it agian you still have a 4-seam grip.
