I wake up after going to a wonderful baseball game last night and find out I was chosen in the ticket lottery to purchase Winter Classic tickets. Now,I have tickets in row 4 center Ice, Upper Deck..Been a good 24 hours.

My question-NOT INCLUDING a Stanley Cup win..What was your all time best 24 hour period when it comes to sports?
Bob-Unfortunately,I was only able to get two tickets..It was off the Ticketmaster lotto.Maybe look into stubhub?

Congrats to you, bastard. Trust me, I was keeping that clean.

My best 24 hours sports period was winning some money in a football pool when I was about 11 years old (I think it was like $100). My parents made me buy saving bonds with the money, ugh! I was totally upset at the time, but when I got to college, cashing those saving bonds thoughout the years, really helped. Then after winning that money, I had a speed skating meet where I came in 4th in the east in my age group. I was pretty stoked, because I had not been speed skating as long as pretty much everybody else. Yeah, I miss being a kid. Things were so simple.

How many can you buy Joe? Only 2 or 4?

I have been planning on going all along….Denver football game first BUT I was supposed to go with my brother in law and his wife has put a leash on him so it is up in the air now.

My wife and I are looking @ Nov 1st for Eagles/Giants and maybe the Phils.

Best trip was probably almost one year ago to the day…..saw the Eagles beat the Falcons, Flyers beat NJ and hovered around Citazens Bank during the ballgame before heading to Cheerleaders.

    More to come…….feeding a baby…….

Congrats…hope the game is enjoyable. My lame suggestion would be to take a ton of photos.

Best period…A February Sunday in 2002 watching Canada finally win a gold medal in hockey. Worth the $1500 airline ticket and sleeping on the floor in a friend’s hotel room. Never before has watered-down beer (thanks, Utah!) tasted so damn good.

    You meathead! LOL

San’s and your luck seems to be good now.

Q- I dont know if this is considered 24hrs…. I went to Alabama and played half of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, spent the weekend in in Talladega for the race and finished the Golf Trail on the way home the next week. Pretty nice to me!

You’re lucky to be going to the game. I love the idea of the Winter Classic, to be quite honest. They really promote it well. Boston is going to need something nice like that since their precious baseball team sh*t the bed.

My best 24 hour period? I would say any day that Detroit wins the Stanley Cup. I know it doesn’t carry on 24 hours, but that time frame makes me the happiest man of the day.

So when are we leaving and where am I picking you up at? I will make arrangements with a buddy of mine up there, we will not need to book a room.

    EDIT: San who?

EDIT: @San who? – Yes, those rumors are true. The website The700Level.com picked up on it first and this morning I went hunting for something on the subject on Yahoo! Surprisingly, none of the bloggers followed up on it aside from one veiled reference.

Here is the link to the 700 Level website, the post is at the bottom as of 11:30 PM on Tuesday.

That said, I will not take a shot at MLB for this. Most likely, they were writing the story as the game progressed so they could run it immediately after the game ends and someone pushed it from their development environment to their live environment. In most places it is a very easy mistake to make. I have done the same, I just don’t have as much at stake as these folks do.

I seem to remember us make a wager last week, If I won Head to head last week you would take me to the Winter classic. In the unlikely event that you won I was to take you to a Sens- Flyers game. Seems like all of us are remembering certain promises that you have no recollection of.

    Congrats.

Best 24 hrs or weekend I remember a few years back, I can’t remember the exact year but the expos were still here. Two of my friends were in town in the spring and over a 3 day period we caught 3 ball games and one Habs game and I wrote one accounting final exam. The details are a bit fuzzy, there was lots of beer and other hallucinogens in those 3 days

Up until last night/this morning it would have been last year, September 27th to be precise, when we went to the Flyers’ final game at their original old barn, the Spectrum. There were both a lot of former Captains and old memories lurking within that concrete hulk. We capped off the day by toddling across the street to watch the Phillies win the NL East crown. Amazing! I never would have imagined it getting better than that.

Bob or anyone else who may have seen it- Were the reports that the MLB website initially posted that LA had won the game last night really true? Brutal.

EDIT: Thanks for the info Lubers but this still doesn’t absolve you of transferring your jinx on to me ;)
