I’m 13 and want a cell phone but i don’t think my mom and dad will let me get one and if i ask why I need one what should i say? I play basketball during the winter, baseball and football during the summer, but in the country and don’t go anywhere. Any help will be appreciated.

Tell them to get you a prepaid phone that you can just add the minutes to.

Tell them it’s good to have in case practice runs late or an emergency happens and you want to be able to reach them. Make it sound appealing to them. That you want it to communicate with THEM.

I know 10 year olds that have prepaid phones.

    Good luck!

Just try to find a way to make them believe it is important to have a cell for your safety. Make them believe that it will be a convenience to them if you have one. But, if you don’t go anywhere…why do you want one?

Explain to them that having a cellphone is very important in case of an emergency and there are no other phones available. What if something happened and you had no way to get ahold of anyone? Also with having such a busy sced. your parents might need to get ahold of you in case they had an emergency.

You can be reached anywhere at any time. There’s plenty of plans out there that give you free anytime minutes to certain people.

You say you’re in the country and don’t really go anywhere, but you’re 13 and you can tell them you want the extra responsibility of having a cell phone that will come in useful in case of emergencies etc.

If it’s a money thing, just see if anyone in the area offers a no-contract service with a flat fee for local calling. Some companies do. Start out like that maybe?

well i think you should tell them that you think that you are responsible enough to have one. that you will only make necessary phone calls, such as to your parents. it will be good for you to have one because just in case of an emergency. also for sports it would be good because if one of your games or practices suddenly got canceled it would be great for you to just call your parents and let them know. rather then having to find someone with a phone or asking to borrow one you have your own. and if you are 13 you are most likely in junior high school and that is also another great reason. i got my first cell phone when i was 13 and i think you should get one to. hope everything works out for you! :)

Well most teenagers (like me) do not need a cell phone. The only reason I got one was because I was going to Chicago, IL for 2 weeks and my parents wanted to keep in touch. Now all I use it for is texting and that is not a reason to get one. If I were you I would say “How would I contact anyone in an emergency situation if I don’t have a cell phone?” or somethine along those lines.

if you need a cell phone , shouldnt YOU know why you would need one . tell them you need it for emergency . lol . hm . if you’re out playing sports and your parents want to find you , then they can easily do so by calling you , or later on if you decide to go out . but anyway good luck haha
