Near Chicago, we have a pretty cold winter and it's hard to play baseball. We have batting cages near us but it is owned by the travel team coach who only lets the travel kids use it or for others, it's really expensive. I have no clue where the other is. How do I work throughout the summer and winter to improve?
There is no more travel team or public league for my age. But how do you practice in the winter when it's cold out???

Work out, practice, use bouncing balls and hit them off walls they help you get hand eye believe me. If you think you are good try for the travel team. That would make your coach mad. If they turn you down show how much you improved then try again.
You just gotta stay focused. Play in a summer team, so you still are in shape. Practice Practice Practice and Practice and you will exceed.
practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,practice,
Definitely keep in shape. Work out at least every other day by running, lifting, hiting the ball around, catching, pitching… etc.
Are there any baseball clubs that you could join in your area? Sometimes there are leagues for regular people. If I were you, I’d look into that.
I’m sorry you didn’t make the team. It’s never fun to not get chosen for something you really want to do. Just keep working hard and stay dedicated. Next year, if you keep your skills up, you will show your coach that you are very dedicated and being on the team is very important to you.
Also, it would be a great idea to email your coach and ask him what you can do to improve your chances of making the team next year. Tell him that his imput would be very appreciated because you really want to be on the team next year. Keep it short and simple.
Best of luck =)
I know it may sound silly but make you or get you a T to hit off of. Like the ones they use in Tball, hit as many balls as you can into a net or fence. Pratice your swing with that, constantly play catch with someone, it just helps keeping your arm in shape and strengthen it. If you can find one it would help to hit some live pitching whether its from a pitcher or at a cage. Just dont give up, baseball is a great game even though the guys in the bigs are having a hard time with steroids and stuff. Stay away from that junk.
Well first of all, to answer your first question, to prove the coach wrong, let him know that you’ll be coming back next year, just to help him remember you. But to answer your other question, the biggest thing to do is keep practicing. I know from personal experience that it’s hard to throw and work out when it’s cold out because your muscles need to be warm to be able to work out well, but before you practice or workout, make sure you run to get your body warm. Also, if you plan to pitch, start strengthening your arm. I have found some good ways to do this is either lift weights, which will definitely get you stronger; or get those long bands (kind of like long, really strong rubber bands) and tie them up to poles or something on a wall, and pull it. This is resistance strengthening, and doesn’t put as much stress on your muscles as lifting weights. So try these workouts to make your arm strong. Also, if you can’t get into batting cages like you were talking about, try looking out of town a little bit. Who knows, there could be a batting cage only a few miles outside your town. And for batting, there are many drills you can do to improve. One is soft toss, where you have someone only 4 feet away from you so that you’re looking straight at him (without turning your head) and have them underhand pickle balls or baseballs to you and hit them into a net. I like this one, it helps your hand-eye coordination. Another one you can do if you can start hitting in a batting cage or on a field, is to draw different colored circles on the baseballs and when you are pitched to look for the color and you have to tell the pitcher what color it is. This will help you keep your eye on the ball and focus on not pulling your head. That’s all I got,if you’ve read this far, I know that was pretty long.
Good luck, and work out hard.
talke like 10′x10′ of net and hang it in the basement or garage and pitch, hit, and swing into it.
didyour friend make it?
