our son(8 yrs) playes baseball in the spring this was his 2nd yr and his dad practices with him during the spring. But as soon as the "season" is over the ball and bat go in the basement and stays there till the next year.i just worry our son will fall behind everyone else if he does not practice at all for 9 mons.He really loves baseball and i would hate to see this happen. Should i talk to my husband about taking him out to the batting cages like once a month?

You can or take him yourself.
no, mom, you said he is overworked. YOU take him.
as he gets older there are travel leagues that play all year.
at 11 and 12 you start to get into the ultracompetitive allstar stuff.
then high school ball, which is picky and heartbreakingly competitive. then next thing you know, jason giambi, haha.
so, at 8, take it measured and calm and slow and steady.
do not burn son out. or dad, haha.
at about 10 i would get him a hitting coach. private. again, no burn out, watch the injuries.
balanced diet. protein, no soda. watch the sweets and junk food. grow a strong, solid, balanced son.
have fun!!!
If you can find the time, you can take him to the batting cages. Even if you know a lot or don’t about baseball that is a good way to show support for your son. You can also buy him a pitchback which will allow him to work on his catching skills while no one is around.
What is wrong with YOU taking him out to practice playing? Spending time with your son isn’t just the job of your husband. Your son needs interaction with his mother as well.
If Dad is too busy, Mom can do it too. You don’t have to take him anywhere, just go out in the yard and play with him!!
