backyard batting cage
For a beginner player: Height 152cm and weight 100lbs, what bat weight is recommended? I know that the inch for bat should be 31. Is there a way to know the weight of the bat suitable for somebody? Can’t swing in the shop. Neither is there a batting cage.

It not about how much the bat weighs its how comfortable it is in your hands. Go the the store and pick aout two or three bats that you like in your age group(little league,SR. league,High school) if your 100 lbs I’ll guess your around the nine to 11 year old range. You should fall into the sr.league category. Use which hand you are and grab a bat, hold it at the knob and then lift it straight out up to your shoulder,if you can hold it there for a few seconds without struggling to keep the headf of the bat even with your shoulder than the bat is not too heavy for you. Make you you purchase a bat with at least a 2 3/4 barrell, If I am guessing correct on your age range your bat will probably be around 30″ -20 ounces or 31″-21 onces. Lots of luck to ya bro.

You need to check what the league rules are on length to weight differential. Many leagues follow state high school regulations which dictates a 2 ounce difference (31 inch bat must weigh at least 209 ounces). You also need to find out the maximum diameter of the bat that is allowed. Most leagues allow 2 5/8″ max, but some allow 2 3/4″ max.

if you weigh 100 lbs and your bat is 31 inches get a bat that weighs around 21 to 23 ounces.
