backyard batting cage
I was just wondering if anyone has been there, could give me some info on how fun it is or how informative? We'll be traveling from Ontario, Canada. Do they have batting cages or a radar machine or anything interactive there? I was looking on their site, and it mostly just seems like it's exhibits, which is fine...but some more interactive stuff would make it even funner.

    Nope, never been.

    Funner is not a word.

Don’t go to a museum to play games you can find at a local arcade. It will cost more, and, upset the pig.

Why Yes, I visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown just last year. There are no batting cages or radar guns or any of the interactive stuff you wishing for, but what the do have is a very in depth look at history of Major League Baseball.

For example you can see Mickey Mantle original uniform or Curt Schilling bloody sock for the 2004 World Series. They have historical baseball items from the last 100 years. Every ball used in a no-hitter. Every World Series ring on display. An entire room dedicated to Babe Ruth. There’s enough to keep you busy for several hours.

In addition to the museum there’s the great hall itself where all of the HOF player plaques are displayed.

Now, behind HOF is Doubleday Field which is as old as baseball itself. Often used for many charity baseball and softball events.

You half to be a die hard baseball fan to go out your way to Cooperstown. But if you are then it’s worth the trip. Even if it just looking at a lot of exhibits.

I went there a couple years ago. No, theres no batting cages or radar guns or anything like that. There are sort of random things though. Like for example i saw Curt Schillings bloody sock that was used against the Yankees in the ALCS a few years ago. Things like that. Another thing is the one and only bat the Reds used when they went undefeated with a 32-0 record, before there was a 162 game season. It was in the 1800s.
I enjoyed it. Hopefully you do too.

I have been there and the most important thing I can tell you is make sure that you have a confirmed room reservation before you go. If you can get there during the week it will save you some money on lodgings. Try to get hotel space within walking distance -1 mile ? – of the HOF
Cooperstown itself is a great ,very green old American town and is a pleasure to walk through and even if the Hall of Fame wasn’t there it would still be worth a visit.
    Good luck

Just a couple of blocks up the street there’s Doubleday Field, there’s batting cages and a radar gun there. The museum itself is huge. They just renovated it last year. I go there once a year. The shops along Main St. have an excellent selection of old hats and jerseys and a lot of bat making shops. I actually bought an old school Blue Jays hat last time I was there. There also a lot of places to eat on the main drag too.

If you like BBQ I would recommend going to Brooks BBQ, its 20 minutes to the south in Oneonta

I was there about 4 years ago with my Dad. It’s a lot of fun if you’re a baseball fan. It’s incredible, to me it’s the best museum of i’ve ever been to. I don’t think there are batting cages. i remember trying to find them with my Dad, but i think they said they don’t have them. when you’re there don’t just look at the museum. there are little stores filled fun things like memorbilia and autographs etc. it’s a lot of fun. and if you’re a soccer fan, i think that the soccer hall of fame is near by. im not 100% sure of this fact, but i think so. my friend’s brother is playing in a baseball tournament up there right now, and she told me theres a water park a good 20-30 minutes a way, so you might want to look into that. any way, the museum is incredible, if you like baseball, this is baseball heaven!

i have been there – i did not see any interactive things. it was mostly exhibits. be careful shopping on the streets, each store had a different price for jerseys so shop around for the best price.

I have been to Cooperstown twice and if you are a fan of baseball you will love it. I love the game and there is so much history there. It’s a good time. Plus, Cooperstown is a nice place by itself. They have a field right next door to the Hall and they have a radar gun.
